Jenna and Wes: 12/17/2016

Proposals have always been a favorite of mine and this one was particularly fun for me.

Wes had a very clear vision of what he wanted for Jenna and already had a lot of thought invested into this moment when he reached out to me. You can't exactly fill a room full of candles and leave the apartment unattended while you go to the airport and go out for dinner. I stepped in so Wes could focus on his time with Jenna and so she wouldn't suspect anything before the time was right.

At this point, I've already learned to expect when it comes to surprising someone you have to anticipate some part probably won't go to plan. This proposal was no exception. I can't even tell you how many time Wes and I talked through every scenario for getting Jenna into the room. I can tell you, though, none of those scenarios were what actually went down.

Like in life, there are so many variables we couldn't control. Getting Jenna out of the vehicle and up the elevator was the wild card of the night. Even though it didn't go according to plan, it was perfect for this amazing couple. I even gave Jenna what she called a "Di Vinci Code moment", which is to be expected when a stranger asks you a question they should know nothing about randomly in the hallway of your apartment building.

I feel so lucky to have been a part of such a beautiful moment for such a great couple. Hearing their story from Wes, it is easy to see they are going to have a wonderful life together.

Congratulations Jenna and Wes! I wish you the best and hope our paths cross again soon!
